We are excited to have these Masakage Kumo Petty knives, crafted by the Takumi Ikeda from Takefu Knife Village in Echizen, Fukui Prefecture, Japan, a place revered for its centuries-old tradition of knife-making excellence. The Masakage Kumo series is a marriage between the best blade smiths of Echizen, and the sharpening of Shibata Takayuki.
This knife is handled in house at Tokushu Knife with our popular burnt chestnut and buffalo horn handles made in Sanjo, Japan.
At the heart of this knife lies the acclaimed VG-10 stainless steel, celebrated for its outstanding durability, edge retention, and corrosion resistance. Contrary to common misconceptions, VG-10, when expertly treated by master blacksmiths like Takumi Ikeda, Shegeki Tanaka, and Takamura, transcends ordinary cutlery to deliver extraordinary culinary instruments. The blade is enveloped in a stunning stainless Damascus cladding, which not only provides additional resilience but also showcases a mesmerizing pattern reminiscent of storm clouds.
The Masakage Kumo Petty 75mm is an indispensable ally in the kitchen, excelling in precision tasks such as paring, peeling, and preparing garnishes. Its compact size, combined with the expertise of Takumi Ikeda, ensures a balance of agility and control that is unmatched, making every cut a delightful experience.
